love is not.

Thoughts Roused by The Road Less Traveled by Scott Peck.

one. love is not the first weeks or first months. love is not falling-in; love is staying-in. love is choice.

two. love is not you-are-a-reflection-of-me. love is not absolute cohesion. ("all couples learn that a true acceptance of their own and each other's individuality and separateness is the only foundation upon which a mature marriage can be based and real love can grow.")

three. love is not painted on bedroom walls. love is not underneath sheets. (sex is a manifestation of love. not the definition.)

four. love is not love if it is apathetic about spiritual growth.

five. love is not lack of confrontation.

six. love is not social sadomasochism. ("in which people unconsciously desire to hurt and be hurt by each other through their nonsexual interpersonal relations.")

seven. love is not primarily emotional. it is primarily volitional.
